How We Help

Our Purpose

A woman’s femininity is associated with her confidence and self-worth. Often times those are destroyed as she makes her way through the initial cancer diagnosis and continues through to the end of a restorative journey and beyond.

Our goal is to empower the survivors by connecting them together to build a strong support group while educating the community.

We have realized there’s a missing piece in our community to support its Breast Cancer survivors.

We want to bridge that gap and offer support to our friends, family and neighbors.

Outreach

The Krewe da Cha Chas believes it’s important for breast cancer patients to know they are never alone. Along with sharing information about local support groups, the Krewe also offers gift cards to help families cover the cost of essentials like food, fuel, and medicines not covered by insurance. Many of our members are breast cancer survivors themselves, so we understand firsthand how these small acts of support can help ease the burdens of treatment. For details on how to request these supplemental funds, please contact us.

Comfort Bag

Through our work with cancer survivors, we’ve seen how even the smallest gestures can bring comfort during treatment. Inspired by their experiences, the Krewe da Cha Chas created the Comfort Bag to offer care and encouragement during one of life’s most difficult journeys. Each bag is filled with a blanket, mints, lotions, balms, a journal, and other handpicked items—simple but meaningful reminders that no one has to face cancer alone.

Financial Assistance

The high cost of cancer treatment—combined with the loss of income many patients face—can be overwhelming. While insurance may cover much of the medical expenses, the Krewe da Cha Chas understands that many financial needs remain during treatment. That’s why we work closely with patients and their families to help meet essential day-to-day needs. Over the years, we’ve provided fuel cards for transportation, grocery gift cards for meals, pharmacy gift cards for hygiene items and over-the-counter medications, and so much more. Our mission remains the same: to be a trusted resource for patients in Tangipahoa Parish, so they can focus on healing instead of financial worries.
